just for fun :
the Colorado Coloring Book project
I've always been a sucker for weird and quirky things to do and places to go. One of my favorite things is discovering something weird and unusual about a place and then shouting it from the rooftops so everyone can enjoy the weirdness with me!
Colorado is full of these little (and not so little) discoveries! For a long time I had been hatching an idea to create a coloring book featuring interesting, odd and often overlooked things to do and places to see in my home state. I started working on the Colorado Coloring Book project in earnest during the latter part of the pandemic lockdowns. I had so much fun researching every oddity I remembered from my childhood, places I had loved to go as an adult, and hilarious things that always made visitors laugh with delight when they heard about them.
I am so proud of how it turned out and so happy to share it with everyone who loves this crazy state.
44 illustrated pages with 19 interesting and offbeat places to go, things to see, and stuff to know about Colorado! From why the Colorado State Capitol steps have 3 different 'one mile above sea level' markers to the origin of the Big Blue Bear, from La Junta's great tarantula migration to the Stanley Hotel, from Blucifer to Mike the Headless Chicken, there's something fun to discover and learn more about on each and every page.
Each set of pages has a postcard and story with lots to learn and discover about the particular place or thing, with smaller items to color, plus a huge full-page illustration. The center spread features Estes Park's world-famous Stanley Hotel along with an activity! (Bet you can't guess what it is! :D )
A little something for everyone! Whether you live in Colorado, are visiting our great square-ish state, or just an aficionado of weird trivia and eccentric coloring books, there's a little something for everyone inside.
Featuring: the Sasquatch Outpost, the Spaceship House, our big blue Mustang affectionately known as Blucifer, Frozen Dead Guy Days, Movie Manor, the Sleeping Giant, the Stanley Hotel and lots more!
